SAL de patchwork, QAL, BOM 2015

Hola a todos,
Cuando llegan estas fechas me gusta buscar por Internet los nuevos SALes de patchwork para el nuevo año que se acerca. Los SALes son geniales cuando no tienes ningún proyecto en mente o cuando, como a mí, te entra la flojera y sabes que la rutina te va a alejar de tus labores.
He encontrado unos poquitos, casi todos en inglés, y casi nada en español. Me imagino que organizar un SAL debe ser agotador y admiro enormemente a las que de manera tan generosa comparten su tiempo y su trabajo con las demás. Un día de estos lo intentaré... cuando supere mi falta de confianza y mi complejo de eterna novata de patchwork :o)
Aquí os dejo la lista de trabajos que encontré y que están a punto de comenzar.

This time of the year is perfect to find new QALs for 2015. They are fantastic when you don't have any other project in mind or when you are not too good at setting up your own schedule and routine tends to take over all the time, little I know...
I am posting today a few links to some very generous quilters and their projects for the New Year. Can you imagine the fantastic amount of time and effort put into organising one of this QALs? One of these days I may give it a go... who knows? It's only that I always feel that I'm not good enough... yet...

Hace tanto tiempo que no visito mi blog que hoy no lo dejo pasar. Ayer pasamos un día estupendo con toda la familia y la visita de Papá Noel, quería desearos a todos unas muy felices fiestas en compañía de vuestros seres queridos.

Fin de curso / School Holidays 2014

Hola a todos,
Las vacaciones escolares empiezan y ahora preparándonos para volver a España unas semanitas. Ya tengo ganas, la verdad, sobre todo después de las últimas semanas, donde por desgracia hemos despedido a mi querido suegro. Qué pena y qué tristeza cuando se pierde a un ser querido. Dios lo tenga en su gloria.
Dear all,
School holidays just started and the family is getting ready to go to Spain for a few weeks. I am looking forward to it, especially after the last couple of weeks. My dear father-in-law passed away after a very short illness. So sad. May he rest in peace.

En fin, antes de despedirme de mi máquina de coser durante el verano, quería enseñaros en lo que he estado trabajando estas últimas semanas.
And just before saying goodbye to my sewing machine before the summer break, I wanted to show you what I have been doing these last few weeks.

Como regalo de fin de curso a las profesoras de mis hijos, este año les he hecho un cojín. Para la etiqueta, como siempre, me gusta que ellos la escriban, o al menos la firmen, y luego yo la bordo.
Estoy supercontenta con el resultado porque logré ponerle una cremallera escondida con una solapita y no sabía ni cómo empezar.
This year I have prepared a couple of cushions for the school teachers. As usual for the labels the children signed them and I embroidered them. I'm really happy with the result. I even managed to hide the zip and I didn't even know how to start.

Y cuando mi hermana los vio con la magia de la telefonía móvil le gustaron mucho, así que decidí hacer dos más para ella. ¿Qué os parecen?
And when my sister saw them (thank God for mobile technology!) she really liked them, so I decided to make a couple of cushions for her. What do you think?

Otro proyectito que me llevo entre manos es un porta-CDs para los niños, para que guarden sus juegos de la XBox. Pero estoy un poco atascada, la verdad. Bueno, anoche terminé uno de ellos pero no tengo fotos. No estoy supercontenta, pero se puede usar y me he dado cuenta de algunos errores que voy a intentar corregir en el segundo. Ya os enseñaré fotitos del progreso.
Another project I'm currently working on is a CD-holder for my kids. They want to bring a few XBox games with them and I thought this could be a nice idea. But I've been stuck for a few days. Last night I finished one but I'm not too happy with the result. I will try to improve it, at least now I'm aware of a few mistakes. I hope to show you the progress soon.

Señales de vida / I'm back!

Ya he perdido la cuenta desde la última vez que escribí un poquito en mi blog. Las que me seguís en facebook ya sabéis por qué. Demasiados exámenes. Pero ahora estoy intentando vencer la pereza y las ganas de no hacer nada y poco a poco vuelvo a mis labores.

I can't even remember when was the last time I posted something on this blog. If you are one of my Facebook followers, then you know about all those exams that are driving me insane. Now, I'm trying to shake a bit of my laziness off and progressively get into my sewing.

Aquí tenéis un avance del proyecto en el que he estado trabajando estos últimos días. Es un bolsito (sorpresa!) Pero esta vez no ha sido por decisión propia. En mi grupo de patchwork se decidió en septiembre pasado que el reto de fin de curso de este año sería un bolso. En fin, que me he puesto manos a la obra y ya lo tengo terminado. Sólo os avanzo un poquito y os lo enseño a finales de semana, después de presentarlo en el grupo. Me perdonáis, ¿verdad?
Just a peek of the project I have been working on the last few days. It is a bag (surprise!). In my quilting guild, the Committee decides on a challenge to be completed by May, this year's challenge is a bag. I have it finished now, so I will show it to you as soon as the week is over. 

IPS South Midlands - Challenge 2014

Y tengo muchos UFOs rodando por ahí, pero me apetece empezar algo nuevo. Sigo empeñada en no comprar más telas y en utilizar al máximo las que tengo. No es que realmente no quiera comprar telas, pero ya sabéis, la recesión se hace notar.
I have so many unfinished projects that I should really go back to then, but hey... I can't help it. I feel like starting afresh! I don't want to buy more fabric for the moment, well... that's not true, I want to, I just can't afford it. So... I'm trying to use whatever I have in my stash and make the most out of it.

Tengo pensado hacer un quilt de bebé para una compañera de trabajo de mi marido. Así que primero seleccioné las telas que más me llamaron la atención. No quiero hacerlo muy de bebé, me gustaría que fuera uno de esos quilts que cuando creces los puedes seguir usando sin hacerte pensar que eres una cría. En fin, que me gustaron los verdes, los rosas y el blanco. Así que seleccioné esto y mi bolsa de retales sueltos de verdes y rosas.
I'd like to do a baby quilt for one of my hubbie's colleagues. She had a baby girl a few months ago, she is still on maternity leave and I would like to make something for her. My choice of fabric is girlie and fresh, but no babyish... I want to make something that she can keep using when she grows up. Here is what I'm going to use, green, pink and white. I have also dug out my green and pink scraps.

No tenía muy claro el tipo de bloque, quiero algo sencillo, con un toque fresco y moderno. Así que al final me decidí por un Log Cabin, fui jugando con los colores de mis hijos y decidí que me gusta el diseño de la esquina inferior derecha.
I wasn't too sure about what type of block to use. I wanted something fresh and modern looking. At the end I made up my mind and it's going to be a Log Cabin block. I "borrowed" some colouring pencils from my boys and I started drawing a few combinations. I like the one on the bottom right corner.

Así que por aquí va la cosa. ¿Lograré terminarlo prontito o terminará convertido en otro UFO más?
So that's it. Will I finish it before her Sweet 16 or will it be another UFO on my list?
